· The IRS is providing tax relief for people and businesses affected by the December 9th tornadoes and storms in parts of Tennessee.

· Taxpayers in Davidson, Dickson, Montgomery and Sumner counties as designated by FEMA qualify for the relief.

· The deadline for filing various federal individual and business tax returns has been extended to June 17, 2024.

· The extension applies to paying federal taxes as well that were due on or after December 9th, 2022.

· Taxpayers in any additional Tennessee localities later designated as disaster areas will also receive the same filing and payment relief.

· A current list of eligible localities can be found on the IRS disaster relief page on IRS.gov.

· The tax relief provides additional time for affected taxpayers to file returns and pay taxes without interest or penalties.
