Governor Josh Shapiro has signed Act 7 of 2023, ushering in significant changes to the Property Tax/Rent Rebate Program in Pennsylvania.

Historic Tax Cut: This law marks one of the most substantial tax cuts for older Pennsylvanians in the last two decades, providing much-needed financial relief.

Social Security Alignment: The program now ensures that small increases in Social Security income won't disqualify individuals from receiving state rebates.

Increased Maximum Rebate: The maximum standard rebate has surged from $650 to $1,000, offering greater relief against property tax and rent expenses for eligible applicants.

Equalized Income Caps: The income caps for renters and homeowners have been standardized at $45,000, promoting fairness and inclusivity in the eligibility criteria.

Cost-of-Living Adjustment:Future income caps will be tied to the cost of living, ensuring ongoing program relevance and preventing eligibility loss due to economic inflation.

Boosted Benefits:Supplemental rebate amounts increased for property owners in specific cities with property taxes constituting 15% or more of their total income.

Expanded Eligibility: Now includes individuals aged 65 and older, widows/widowers aged 50 and older, and people with disabilities aged 18 and older.

Application  2024: Apply online at mypath.pa.gov starting January 16, 2024. Deadline: June 31, 2024 (extended to December 31, 2024, if funds allow).
